On the eve of the most Bulgarian of holidays – the Day of Slavic writing and Bulgarian education and culture, an exhibition of paintings by Bulgarian artists was unveiled at the Belogradchik Art Gallery. It was in fact a natural finale of a plein-air organized by our fellow citizen Snezhana Zhivkova. It is the plen-air’s second edition but for the first time it visited us with its own exhibition as well.
The project commenced on May 11 and over the course of 10 days six artists from Sofia and Russe lived and painted in our town. Authors of diverse emotionality and sensitivity met here, each one with their own characteristic individuality.
This plein-air is not restricted to a particular theme but somehow it’s only natural and logical that the Belogradchik Rocks theme dominates, which is perfectly reasonable. The exhibition included 19 canvases.
The plein-airs are events, which have a distinct attraction. Only those, who have participated, organized, or anyhow touched them may experience the environment filled with creative spirit, inspiration, and liberation.
The exhibition was presented by the gallery curator Elena Djuninska and unveiled by Miroslava Chavdarova, Chair of Belogradchik Municipal Council. She addressed very warmly the the plein-air participants calling them friends of the beautiful rocky town and stated her certainty that they will present the unique natural landmarks in other galleries in the country and worldwide
The plein-air participants also proved to be good musicians and held an impressive concert for the citizens and visitors at the town center plaza
The plein-air organizers and the Municipality leadership thanked their fellow citizen Milen Bazinski, who was yet again a benefactor for the arrangement of this culture event
