The Kaleto Architectural Complex in Mezdra to become the main tourist attraction in the municipality – a very plausible possibility. 562 tourists visited the site for the first 3 weeks after its official opening. 188 of the above visitors were pupils and retirees and 79 were students, said Eng. Dimitar Pavlov, the Manager of the complex.
The first organized groups came from Pravets and Etropole, the Fortress was visited by Dutch, English, Czechs and even one Japanese tourist. The hosts already offer souvenirs, such as fridge magnets, pendants and pens and also a luxury edition book about the history of Mezdra.
The managing team relies very much on the advertisement. Therefore articles about the Kaleto Fortress will be published in the popular magazine Tourism and Recreation in the autumn. The Mezdra municipal authorities will present the complex at the Exhibition for promotion of the good practices and the potential for sustainable development of the Bulgarian cities, to be held in the capital city in October, organized by the National Association of the Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB).
A tender is contemplated to be held for the rent of two workshops for arts and crafts within the complex, which will extend the collection of souvenirs and attractions offered. Road sign boards have been ordered, which shall be arranged along the E79 road near the entries from Sofia and Vratsa. [nggallery id=1]
