The issue of opening a new border checkpoint with Serbia at Salash-Novo korito will be put forward during the Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov’s visit to our western neighbor, which begins on Monday. This was announced by the parliament’s head, who was guest of the traditional international fair at the Cadi Boaz pass, where the future border pass will be. For 13 years now during the fair’s days the border is opened so that Bulgarians and Serbs may pass freely. Mikov also went over to Serbian territory where he bought a juice of nettle, honey, and conserved vegetables.
He reminded that there had been much discussion about constructing the border checkpoint and of the 2007 agreement, but that now was the time to act so that people can pass through the border throughout the year and not only during the three fair days.
Coming at the invitation of the Serbian parliament’s speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic, Mihail Mikov’s visit to Serbia will discuss cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments during Serbia’s preaccession period, with our country to offer aid in the negotiation policy. Apart from the Chair of the Serbian parliament, Mihail Mikov will also meet the Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and the President Tomislav Nikolic.
