A new brand called “Nortikum” will impose Belogradchik and region on the European tourist map. Biking tourism and camping-holidays gain in popularity in the last two years.
Municipality of Belogradchik extends its possibilities for tourist attracting by focusing on to local tourlac cuisine and folklore.
Last year over 82 000 people have visited Belogradchik fortress, Magura cave and local museums and fourth of them were foreigners.
The wealth and the beauty of Belogradchik region with its natural features, local way of life and culture are still out of interest of big tourist operators.
By looking for a public-private partnership is the way to get the landmarks in to the new domestic and cross-border routes.
A German association consultant for international cooperation Knut Gerber: We have made a wonderful brand “Nortikum” for Northwest wines and now to be noticeable on the market we will entry all tourist products under this emblem.
Biking tourism is one of the options, which wins more and more fans. For the last year from Chiprovtsi to Vrushka Chuka have been made and maintained over 360 km cycle paths.
Mountain biking discloses in a different way nature and rocks beauty. “We decided the routes to get trough along the caves, ceremonial crosses, fountains, also they bring up to Biosphere Reserve in Chuprene” said Radoslav Mladenov from biking club “Strela”-Belogradchik .
Until June, a big visitor center situated by the side of fortress “Kaleto” will open its doors. It is a spacious terrace for observation, were you can see wonderful views. It will have a presentation room, an exhibition of over 700 crystals from the region and a shop “Made in Belogradchik”.
What is tourism without local culinary delights?! Simple meatless dishes are the heart of the table in Belogradchik villages, populated with tourlacs. Tasting the dishes with strange names such as “Bel muzh”, “Polibrada”, “Preturka” finished very fast, because everything was so delicious.
